Only The Good Die Young

Sun Mar 11, 2007, 1:18 PM
“When does a man die? When he is shot in the heart? No. When he has an incurable disease? No. When he has drank a soup of poison mushroom? No. When he is forgotten.”
-Dr. Huruluck

I believe that this quote can help us all thought these difficult times. When I first heard about Webster’s death, I was mortified. I, like so many others around the country and world, grieved. While I have not forgotten, I have moved on to another step, and it is while this group is here partially for grieving, I think its main function is to celebrate his life, projects, and ever-lasting dream. I remember when I first read the comic, so long ago. He set out with a simple adventure, with simple guidelines, and they are as follows:
“To explore strange new Videoworlds! To goof off and make fun of life and civilization! To insult Mark Moore like never before!”

Those touched my heart, and made me chuckle. They still do, every time I read them.
When I decided that I wanted to reach out and help the community, I knew the best way for me to do it was by gathering people from all over and brining them together, so I did some research on him.

He was born 1984, and died February 3rd, 2007.
Here are some of the things I found out:
First of all, he was going to the North Dakota State University. He was the Vice Chair of The Association for Computing Machinery. More can be found at:

He is the second from the top.
His school’s online newsletter made mention of his death, and it is quoted below:

“Student dies
Webster Sterling Swenson, a senior majoring in computer
programming, died Feb. 3 in Fargo from complications of
juvenile onset diabetes. He was 23.
Swenson, who was living in Fargo, was the son of Jan and
David Swenson, Bismarck.”

Next, I found the online funeral home, and the page on that website that is about him. It truly was touching, and has a really wonderful picture of him.
While this site does have a guest book, it seems rather small, though I still encourage signing it; I know that LalalaKirby signed it, as well as Pchan! A good thing to look at, and leave your regards.
There is another Guest book, at this address:

This one is fairly larger, I have signed it on behalf of the entire Online Community, but I know that many other spriters and online fans have signed the book, and I encourage all who are concerned to as well. Also, the first one to leave a message on his online book (linked above, was on behalf of the French spriters. That brings tears to my eyes. Here is their message translated:
Thank you with you Webster, on behalf of all the French spriters.
- Gasotetsu

I leave you with this final quote, that I opened with, and that I think will be a nice closure, and I think that Webster is proof of it.
“Only the Good Die Young.” –Billy Joel
As always,
Be well,
Bai
